What is the difference between RIC and Two in
A
RIC is a dedicated company of three or more F/Fs who are assigned for rapid deployment to rescue F/Fs.
Two in/Two out is federal regulations and California code of regulations. In IDLH atmospheres (LAW) requires F/F’s use SCBA and a minimum of two FF’s stand by outside.

What is the purpose of RIC
A
RIC is for the sole purpose of FF rescue.
RIC requires a coordinated plan of action.
IDLH is any structural fire beyond the incipient stage.

A
- Incident priorities, objectives, strategy and tactics.
- Current assignment of crews and their location of operation.
- Building information
- Known hazards
- Location of RIC staging area

What should the RIC size up include?
A
- Construction features
- Potential hazards
- Requesting additional resources
- Providing ladders needed for emergency egress from windows, and or roof.
- Coordinating the opening of doors and windows, removing security bars and devices.
- Illuminating entrances and exits.

A
- All members shall have portable radios and monitor the assigned tact channel.
- Firefighter position shall make primary and monitor emergency channel 16 at all times.

A
- IC clears incident tact channel and declares emergency traffic.

- IC request additional tac channel for fire ground opps.
- 1 ALS unit for each FF lost, missing or trapped.
- Additional RIC shall be established and ready to relieve initial RIC
