What is meant by rubato?
A
music will speed up and slow down in order to allow for expression, therefore there will not be a strict tempo maintained.

What is meant by moderato/
A
A medium tempo (speed).

What is a cross rhythm?
A
Term used to describe the effect of two notes being played against three.

What is compound time?
A
The music has two, three or four beats in each bar, and each beat is divided into groups of three (6/8, 9/8 or 12/8) – you can say ‘lollipop’ as you listen to compound time music and the three syllables will fit exactly within each beat.
