How did penicillamine get its name?
MOA in RA? Other indications?
A
Also called d-penicillamine, it is the d-isomer of dimethylcysteine, a breakdown product of penicillin.
Unclear MOA in RA - inhibits collagen formation, reduces RF & immune complex concentrations.
Also for Wilsons disease (chelates copper) and cystinuria.
