First Person
intended to imitate the character’s thought process; the person telling the story is disorganized in thought
Stream of Consciousness
the narrator is not involved in the events being described and relays facts without bias
Third Person Objective
the “God perspective”; view from the outside plus knowledge of the characters’ thoughts
Third Person Omniscient
the person telling the story may be a child or mentally handicapped adult who is intellectually incapable or naïve of understanding what is happening
Innocent Eye
covers the innocent eye or a narrator who has such a strong bias or interest in the audience’s perception of events that the reader cannot trust him or her
Questionable/Unreliable Narrator
the writer is speaking directly to the audience for the purpose of instruction
Second Person
the story is told by an outsider who can also relay the thoughts of one or more characters, but not all characters
Third Person Limited Omniscient
