What is Anaphora and Epistrophe repetition?
Repetion: repeating words in a sentence or of phrases in a series of sentences.
Anaphora: repetition at the beginning of sentences.
Epistrophe: repetition at the end of sentences.
What is Alliteration?
Repetition of the first sound or letter of words in a phrase.
What is Inclusive language?
Using pronouns like “you, your, we, our, us” to directly address the reader/ audience.
What is a Rhetorical question?
A question which doesn’t require an answer because the answer is obvious.
What is a Simile?
Comparing one thing to another. Eg ‘as cute as a kitten’.
What is a Metaphor?
A word or phrase used to represent another, without using words ‘like’ or ‘as’. Eg. The snow is a white blanket.
What is an analogy?
An extended metaphor or simile, that is comparison between 2 ideas or cases. Eg. ‘Writing a book of poetry is like dropping a rose petal in the Grand Canyon and waiting for the echo’.
What is the rule of three?
Keeping repetitions, lists, arguments to s number of three in persuasive writing or speaking.
What is emotive language?
Language that appeals to people’s emotions.
