What does TEEL stand for?

What is the basic essay structure?
Introduction Paragraph 1 (poem 1) Paragraph 2 (poem 2) Paragraph 3 (compare/contrast) Conclusion
What do you write for ‘topic sentence’ (TEEL)?
Identify image of Australia constructed in the poem.
What do you write for ‘elaborating’ (TEEL)?
Brief summary of poem and develop idea about the image of Australia portrayed in the poem.
What do you write for ‘evidence’ (TEEL)?
Use TEE ( technique, example, effect) to show how the image of Australia is constructed (do at least TWICE).
What do you write for ‘link’ (TEEL)?
Summarise the main idea of the prom and link back to question.
What do you do in the introduction?
Using the keywords in the question, outline how the two poems set for study compare in their representation of Australia.
-include title
-poet’s name
-what image of Australia is being construed in the text.
Outline the main techniques that each poet uses to achieve meaning.
What do you do in paragraph 1?
Use TEEL structure
What do you do in paragraph 2?
Same as paragraph 1 but use a linking word in the topic sentence to compare the poem and how it represents Australia. Eg similarly, likewise, as in, in contrast to, …..
What do you do in paragraph 3?
Use TEEL again
Expand your comparison/contrast of the two poems
Use examples that you have not used in your first two paragraphs.
What do you write for conclusion?
Summarise how each poem represents Australia
Summarise how the texts compare and contrast
Ensure that you use the key words in the question.
