Why use solutions?

A

Since RGP are hydrophobic by nature the lens surface needs to be made hydrophilic to promote comfort.
Hydrophobic lens will ultimately allow debris to adhere to the lens creating deposits

Disadvantage of Hydrogen peroxide systems

A
  • Solutions need full 6 hours to convert to saline otherwise they will cause significant discomfort
  • Once converted there is no preservative coverage to prevent contamination
  • Advised not to store longer than 7 days
