His father died at 14 and he dropped out of secondary school

He was rejected by the Vienna academy of fine arts then his mother died and he moved to Vienna selling paintings

When ww1 broke out he moved to Munich to dodge the draft he joined the army anyway when ww1 broke out

In ww1 he won 2 decorations for bravery including the iron cross he was wounded twice once in the battle of the Somme and onc sin a British Gas attack

He spied on political groups and eventually investigated the German workers party which he joined after agreeing with its ideals
