The start of the war was only in Europe
Why did so many non European countries join
Many non European countries had pacts with European countries dragging them into war others did it for land and resources or being persuaded by larger countries
What was the schleiffen plan
It was a German plan to take France in 6 weeks while Russia mobilised its army to avoid fighting on 2 fronts
Why did the schleiffen plan fail
The resistance of the BAF and reinforcements from the BEF held the Germans back and didn’t let them advance as fast as they wanted
Why else did the schleiffen plan fail
Russia mobilised much faster than expected within 10 days they had invaded Germany and Germany was forced into a 2 sided war
What happened in the schleiffen plan
The Germans where not expecting any resistance from belgium but the BAF fought bravely and halted German advanced then the BEF came and helped them holding up the Germans at moms in framce
What else happened in the schleiffen plan
French troops quickly responded attacking alsace and lorraine but the attack failed they then switched troops to Paris in a desperate attempt to hold up the Germans then the BEF arrived and pushed the Germans back 35 miles
Why did some men go to war
In 1915 Britain started recruiting and nearly 2 million signed up for there country they were proud to die for there countries
