1764: Sugar Act
Taxed the import of sugar, wine, coffee, molasses, and other goods. Allowed British Officers, not colonial judges and juries, to try offenders. Barred colonists from trading lumber andiron to countries other than Britain.
1763: Proclamation of 1763
Declared that American colonists would not be permitted to establish new settlements west of a line drawn through the Appalachian Mt.
1765: Stamp Act
Required colonists to pay a direct tax on all paper used. Colonists had to use stamped from London for all printed materials.
1765: Quartering Act
Made colonists’ house British troops and provide them food, weapons, and supplies.
1766: Declamatory Act
Declared parliaments roads to make laws for the colonies.
1767: Townshed Act
Taxed Import of paper, lead, paint, glass and tea. Cut tea taxes in Britain. Set up British courts in The colonies to enforce acts.
1773: Tea Act
Try to help the British East India Company by shipping it surplus tea to the colonies to sell below the price of colonial merchants.
1774: Intolerable Act
Closed Boston’s port to all trade except for food, fuel, and provisions for British troops. Expanded powers of British-appointed governor and appointed a new governing council in Massachusetts. Moved trials of British officials.
