What was the English Civil war?
The English Civil War was a series of civil wars and political machinations between Parliamentarians and Royalists, mainly over the manner of England’s governance and issues of religious freedom.
Who was the main cause?
Charles and the Parliament
Why did it happen?
It happened because Charles and the Parliament did things to eachother.
What did Charles do to the Parliament?
Charles tried to arrest 5mps in Parliament. He also had problems with money and marriege to a Catholic Princess. He was also to blame for believing in the Divine rights of Kings which caused conflict with Parliament.
What did the Parliament do the Charles?
The Parliament could have supported him more and avoided conflict. They also refused him to raise the taxes and also crytisezed his marriege.
What is a long term cause of the Civil war?
Both territories disputed on the issue of slavery and whether it was legal or not.
What were the short term causes of the Civil war?
No parliament to help raise the taxes. The country was destroyed.
