Revision For Mock Flashcards
Proton has a relative charge of
+1
Electron has a relative charge of
-1
Neutron has a relative charge of
0
Is the atomic number the top number or bottom number
Bottom
The top number is the
Atomic number
What is the atomic number
The number of electrons is the same as the number of protons
What is the mass number
Shows you the total number of protons plus the number of neutrons
What are isotopes
Atoms with the same number of protons but a different number of neutrons
Mixtures contain
At least two dofferent elements or compounds
Three examples of how different parts of a mixture can be seperated
Filtration
Fractional distillation
Crystallisation
Mixtures don’t involve
Chemical reactions
Filtration used to
Separate an insoluble liquid from a liquid reaction mixture
Method of filtration
1.Put some filter paper in a funnel
2.Pour the mixture into the filter paper
3.Make sure the mixture doesn’t go above the filter paper
4.The liquid passes through the paper into the breaker.Whilst the solid is left behind in the filter paper
Cr
Crystallisation used to
Separate soluble solids from solutions
