Revision deck Flashcards
What is a couple?
A pair of force of equal size which act parallel to each other in opposite directions.
What is inteference?
The superposition of coherent waves
What is Newtons first law?
Velocity will not change unless a net force acts on it
What is Newtons second law?
Resultant force is directly proportional to the rate of change of momentum
What is Newtons third law?
When an object exerts a force on another the second object will exert an equal and opposite force
What is E.M.F ?
The work done on charge carriers
What is P.d ?
The work done by the charge carriers
How is a stationary wave produced?
A stationary wave is produced when a progressive wave is reflected and superposed
What is the relationship between intensity and amplitude?
Intensity is proportional to amplitude squared
What is the value of x in the diffraction equation?
Fringe spacing
What is the value of a in the diffraction equation?
Slit spacing
What is the derived value of 1 J
kgm2s-2
What is the derived value of 1N
kgms2
Where is the ultimtae tensile strength on a stress strain graph?
The highest point
Where is the limit of proportionality on a stress strain graph?
Where the line begins to curve
Where is the yeild point on a stress strain graph?
Where the curve benins to trend down
The material will then deform at a fixed weight
What is the force working against an object traveling up an incline
The weight of the object will act against the motion
What is phase difference?
The difference in degrees between points on the same wave or points on two waves
What are the three forces in the nucelus?
Strong nucelar force, Gravitational force, Electrostatic force
Describe the strong nucelar force
- Strongest force
- Very attractive between around 1 and 3fm
- Repulsive <1fm
- Very short range
Describe the gravitational force
- Very long range (infinite)
- Attractive force
Describe the electrostatic force
- Between protons
- Repulsive force
- Very long range (infinite)
What is the 1st harmonic in a closed tube?
0.25 x wavelength
What is the 1st harmonic in an open tube
0.5 x wavelength
