1
Q
What is a weather front?
A
A weather front is a boundary separating two masses of air of different densities.
2
Q
What is the difference between a warm + cold front?
A
- Warm fronts occur when cold fronts are crashed into by a warm air mass, causing it to rise.
- Cold fronts occur when warm fronts and cold fronts collide, and driven upward.
- The cold front never rises, but the warm front does.
3
Q
Which is worse- why?
A
Cold front.
4
Q
Which comes first?
A
The warm front.
5
Q
Summarise how weather changes as a depression (warm/cold) front passes.
A
When it’s a warm front (which always comes first) the warm air moves and rises slowly above cold air, which creates Nimbostratus clouds.
When it’s a cold front (which comes after the warm front) the cold air moves and violently pushes the warm air upwards making Cumulonimbus clouds.
