Q

What is temperature in terms of particles?

A

The higher the temperature, the faster the particles travel because heat is energy. The hotter the mixture/object is means that the amount of energy in the particles is high

Q

Describe coal formation

A

A tree on a hill falls down (during photosynthesis) and rots away. It doesn’t decomposes in the swamp where it fell because there is no oxygen in it. Over millions of years the ground builds up and the tree is squashed in the layers (called compaction). The factories then drill down into the Earth to collect the coal

Q

Describe oil formation

A

The animals die and collect on the sea bed. The layers build up and there is no oxygen (called compaction). The drills hit the sea bed and create oil puddles which they then collect
