Review 2 Flashcards
Qn characteristics
Relationship between variables, hypothesized prediction of the expected outcome
What does an experimental design do?
Experimental test treatment, whether treatment influences the outcome
What are the different experimental designs?
True Experiment, Pre-experimental, Quasi-experimental
What does a non-experimental design do?
Does not test treatment, based no examining association between variables
What are the types of non-experimental designs?
Case-control, Longitudinal Study, Cohort, Stratified, Clustered Cross-sectional, Systematic
What does Longitudinal study do?
Over long-period of time, with same sample
What is Cluster sampling?
Divides population into groups
What is Stratified sampling?
Samples group from population
What is Cross Sectional?
Collection of data from one point in time
What is cohort?
Measures between two groups, where one is exposed, and the other is not
What is case-control?
Measures two groups, where exposure and outcome are collected at one point in time. Has already occured
What is Systematic?
Select from every x number of people in a population/group
What is true experiment?
explores impact of treatment and compares to control groups
What is pre-experimental?
There is no control group
What is quasi-experimental?
not randomly assigned treatment conditions, study the effect of treatment as the outcome
