Reversible changes, water and carbon dioxide Flashcards
acid + carbonate
salt + water + carbon dioxide
What is a reversible reaction
a reaction in which the conversion of reactants to products and the conversion of products to reactants can both occur
Effects of heat and water on hydrated and anhydrous copper (II) sulphate
Hydrated = water is present
Anhydrous = water is not present
Hydrated copper sulphate –(ENDOTHERMIC)–> Anhydrous copper (II) sulphate + water
– White coloured product
Anhydrous copper (II) sulphate + water –(EXOTHERMIC) –> Hydrated copper sulphate
–blue coloured product
– water must be present for the reaction to take place
What is endothermic and exothermic?
Endothermic = required het energy from surroundings to work
Exothermic = a reaction in which energy is released in the form of light or heat into surroundings.
Effects of heat and water on cobalt (II) chloride
water will turn anhydrous cobalt chloride from BLUE to PINK
