Return of Spontaneous Circulation Management Flashcards
1
Q
What are the primary aims of ROSC management?
A
- Primary aims after a ROSC:
- Support circulation, airway & breathing
- Maintain cerebral perfusion
- Manage cardiac dysrhythmias - Determine & manage the cause of the cardiac arrest giving consideration to those that are reversible
2
Q
What are the reversible causes of cardiac arrest?
A
- Hypoxia
- Hypo/hyperthermia
- Hypovolaemia
- Hypo/hyperkalaemia
- Hydrogen ion (acidosis)
- Tension pneumothorax
- Tamponade
- Toxins
- Thrombosis
3
Q
Outline the standard protocol for ROSC management.
A
- Standard cares
- 12-lead ECG
- Treat presenting dysrhythmias
- Consider & manage reversible causes
- Optimise ventilation & oxygenation:
- Maintain SPO2 >94%
- Consider advanced airway
- Maintain ETCO2 of 30-40
- If no ETCO2, ventilate at a rate of 8-12/min
- Do not hyperventilate - Optimise circulation:
- Aim for SBP >100 for adults
- Aim for SBP >80 for children - Consider:
- Posturing
- Adrenaline
