What is the main mode of transmission of EIA?
A
Mechanical transmission by tabanids (horse flies, breeze flies), stable flies (Stomoxys spp.), mosquitos and probably Culicoides spp.
[Also vertical transmission via placenta and through colostrum and milk]

Where does EIA virus replicate?
A
Initially in macrophages and then in lymphocytes
[lifelong viremia develop in all infected horses]
