Retrieval and Forgetting Flashcards

1
Q

Pattern separation

A

process that parses similar events into more distinct, non-overlapping representations. Believed to take place in encoding. You encode details even if they’re overlapping that allows you to differentiate events. (occurs in hippocampus)

A

Process that interacts with partial information to reconstruct a complete event. (occurs in hippocampus)

Medial Temporal Lobe

A

Believed to be responsible for binding features into an integrated memory trace. receives highly processed input from many brain areas when an event is encoded.
