Increase the volume of intravascular fluid

- Saline (crystalloid) most commonly used due to reduced risk of anaphylaxis
- Colloid (can also be considered)

Assess using ABCDE approach
Identify cause of the deficit and respond
- Give a fluid bolus of 500ml crystalloid stat
- Reassess patient
- Further bolus of 250 - 500ml of crystalloid
