Q

What does Dextrose contain and how is it used?

A
  1. essentially sugar +water
  2. Just water thus can travel between intracellular and extracellular compartments
  3. used for maintainence fluids

Q

which body compartment do crystalloid solutions affect?

A

EXTRAVASCULAR MAINLY

  1. pass freely between intravascular and interstitial space
  2. remain in the vascular space for a short time - mainly in interstitial fluid
