Q

when is tooth mobility a negative

A
  • when it is progressively increasing

Q

what is primary occlusal trauma

A

an injury resulting in tissue changes from excessive occlusal forces appleid to a tooth or teeth with normal periodontal support

It occurs in the presence of normal clinical attachment levels, normal bone levels and excessive occlusal force

Q

what is the response of a healthy periodontium to primary occlusal trauma

A
  • PDL width increases until forces can be adequately dissipated and then the PDL width should stabilise
  • tooth mobility will increase as a result
  • this is a successful adaptation to increased demand
  • if demand reduces, the PDL should return to normal
