Q

Reducing/Building Process

A
  • Cut the extra tissues or cauterize the edemic area and apply pressure to reduce the water content
  • Fill with mastic compound, cotton or an analogous material. Or you can use a tissue builder in sunken regions

Q

Sealing process

A

In this process the surface dryness is the goal by using a cauterant. Especially in a case where the epidermis is not present the capillaries must be seal. Dehydration is a good thing in this stage allowing for restorative materials to adhere better like glues to ensure a leak-proof surface

Q

Treatment and restoration technique for discolouration and bleaching

A

Tx - Bleaching by hypodermic inj or surface compress with cauterant. Use before embalming as fomaldehyde will impede ability
-Restoration is cosmetics

Q

Treatment and restoration technique for limb loss

A

Tx - Embalm the limb/head separately, attachment sites are cauterized and sealed as much as possible

Q

Treatment and restoration technique for fractured bones

A

Tx - Reset the bone and use a splint, then embalming
Restoration - Limb is positioned naturally and allowed to set immediately after embalming. Delays will compromise positioning.

Restoration - Use sutures for reattachment, wood dowelling, basket sutures for wax adhesion, textured and cosmetics fractured bones

Q

Treatment and restoration technique for jaundice

A

Tx - Strong formaldehyde solution used with a red dye to counteract the green colour. Restricted cervical injection used to inject not as strong of a solution in the face.

Restoration - a cosmetic mask to cover what the dye did not correct
