Q
What happens to the body during exercise?
A
. The heart rate increases to pump oxygenated blood faster through the muscle cells.
. Breathing rate and breath volume increase. This increases the amount of oxygen entering the blood bloodstream.

Q
Describe the process for removing lactic acid from the body
A
- Lactic acid built up in the muscle cells during exercise.
- Blood flows through the muscle cells and transports the lactic acid to the liver.
- The liver oxidizes the lactic acid and converts it back into glucose.
- Glucose is then used in aerobic respiration, or it is converted to glycogen and stored in the liver for later use.
