What are the two zones of the respiratory system?
Conducting and Respiratory
What is the function of the conducting zone?
Brings air in and out of the respiratory zone.
What is the function of the respiratory zone?
Site of gas exchange
What is located within the respiratory zone?
Includes respiratory bronchioles, alveolar ducts, alveoli
Where is the trachea?
From the inferior border of the larynx to the mediastinum
What does the trachea divide into?
2 primary bronchi
What is the tracheal wall lined with?
Mucous membrane, works to keep things out of the lungs
Name the tracheal divisions in descending order :)
Trachea, primary bronchi, secondary bronchi, tertiary bronchi, bronchioles, terminal bronchioles.
What branches off of the terminal bronchiole?
Respiratory bronchiole
How many lobes are in each lung?
3 in the right, 2 in the left
Each lobe is served by what type of bronchus?
Primary
What are the 2 types of pleura?
Parietal and Visceral
What does pleural fluid do?
Allows lungs to expand and move
