Respiratory System Flashcards
What is the respiratory system involved in? (1)
Breathing in oxygen (for respiration).
What is the respiratory system involved in? (1)
The respiratory system is used for breathing out waste carbon dioxide.
Name all the parts of your body used in the respiratory system?
Nose, mouth, trachea, bronchus, ribcage, bronchiole, muscle, heart, lung, alveolus (air sack), rib, diaphragm.
How can you measure your lung volume?
You have to breathe into a plastic tube that is connected to a jug full of water that is fully emerged into a tank with water into it, to make sure no water comes out.
What happens in your body during this experiment?
When you breathe out fully into the plastic tube, air from your lungs ushers water out of the bottle.
What does this experiment mean?
Volume of air in the plastic bottle after breathing into it as much as possible = lung volume
What equipment do you need for this experiment?
A plastic tube, a tank with water and a plastic jug (full of water)
