Respiratory System Flashcards
Mouth
Openings that pull air from outside your body into your respiratory system
Nose
It allows air to enter your body, then filters debris and warms and moistens the air.
Larynx
The hollow tube that lets air pass from your throat (pharynx) to your trachea on the way to your lungs.
Pharynx
The hollow tube inside the neck that starts behind the nose and ends at the top of the trachea
Trachea
The long, U-shaped tube that connects your larynx and pharynx to your Bronchi. Its purpose is to carry air to the lungs
Bronchi
The bronchi are the large tubes that connect your trachea to your lungs and Bronchioles.
Bronchioles
The Bronchioles are small tubes that branch off the Bronchi and. They connect the Bronchi to the Aveoli.
Lungs
The lungs are a pair of spongy, air-filled organs located on either side of the chest that contain the Bronchi, Bronchioles and the Aveoli
Aveoli
The air sacks in the lungs that store air. When diffusion happens they C02 and oxygen switch places and the oxygen goes into the bloodstream while the C02 stays in the Aveoli.
Diaphragm
Pleura
Main parts of the respiratory system
Mouth, Nose, Larynx, Pharynx, Trachea, Bronchi, Bronhcioles, Aveoli, Diaphragm and Lungs
What the respiratory system do?
The Respiratory system allows us to breathe by absorbing the oxygen and releasing the C02 while breathing.
