Clinical Manisfestations of COPD
Decreased breath sounds, cyanosis, polycythemia, purse lip breathing, chest tightness, wheeze, cough
Nursing Management of COPD
Cease cigarette smoking, bronchodilators, anticholinergics, corticosteroids, O2 therapy, breathing exercises
What is Chronic Bronchitis?
Presence of cough and sputum production for at least 3 months over 2 consecutive years
What is emphysema?
Gaseous exchange impaired due to destruction over distended alveoli walls
Goals of Care
Improve ventilation Promote secretion removal Prevent complications & progression Promote comfort & participation in care Improve quality of life
Pneumonia Clinical Manifestations
Fever, chills, headache, pleural effusion
TB Clinical Manifestations
Loss of appetite, fatigue, night sweats, pain on breathing and coughing
Resp Nursing Management
Adequate hydration Chest physio Coughing techniques Resp assessment Colour and mental status IV anti's as prescribed
