Pharyngeal tonsils
What is the name of the tonsils of the Oropharynx?
Palatine and Lingual Tonsils
What are the functions of the voice box/larynx?
Routes air and food into proper channels. Plays a role in speech.
Structure and Function of the Epiglottis
Structure: Spoon-shaped flap of cartilage
Function: Protects the superior opening of the larynx.
What is the opening between the vocal cords
Glottis
The function of Vocal Folds (True vocal cords)
Vibrate with expelled air, allows for speech
What is tidal volume?
Volume of air inhaled and exhaled with each respiration
What is Vital Capacity?
Or total exchangeable air of the lungs
What is residual volume?
The amount of air remaining in the lungs after a maximal respiratory effort.
