Respiratory Flashcards
3 Functions of Serous Fluid
Reduce Friction, Create pressure gradients, compartmentalize
How many lobes are on each lung?
Left (2), Right (3)
What is eupnea?
Quiet breathing, respiratory rate.
What type of breathing is associated with fevers?
Tachypnea (rapid breathing)
What type is breathing is pausing/cessation of breathing or suspended inhalation?
Apnea
Having difficulty or labored breathing is known as?
Dyspnea
What is the purpose of the Capillary Network?
To increase the efficiency in the alveoli.
What is the bronchi to bronchiole pathway?
Primary–> Secondary–> Tertiary–> Bronchiole
How does Inspiration ( Inhalation?)
Diaphragm (Pulls downwards), External Intercostals( Up and outward direction)
What is Internal Respiration?
Gas exchange between capillaries and tissues
What is External Respiration?
Exchanges gases at the Respiratory membrane.
Name the 3 parts of the Pulmonary Alveoli?
Type I, Type II Alveolar cells, Respiratory membrane
Structure and Function: Type I Alveolar
Squamous Alveolar Cells, Aids in Rapid Gas exchange
Structure and Function: Type II Alveolar Cells
Great Alveolar Cells, Make Type I cells and Secrete surfactant
What are the 3 respiratory group
Ventral Respiratory Group, Dorsal Respiratory Group, Pontine Respiratory Group
