Q

Process of the links reaction?

A
  • pyruvate is actively transported into the mitochondria matrix
  • pyruvate + NAD + coenzyme A = acetal coenzyme A + reduced NAD + carbon dioxide

Q

Process of the kreb’s cycle?

A
  • acetyl coA combines to a 4C molecule =6C molecule
  • 6C loses carbon dioxide x2 and hydrogen
  • it gives electrons and protons to the Electron transport chain
( during this, reduced FAD and reduced NAD and ATP is produced)

Q

The process of the electron transport chain

.

A
  • electrons from glycolysis and kreb’s passed to an acceptor
  • passed along chain of carriers, by oxidation, reduction reactions
  • electrons lose energy as passed along chain
  • energy used to combine ADP+Pi to make ATP
  • at the end of the chain the electrons combine with protons to oxygen to make water

Q

Process of glycolysis?

A

-glucose is converts to phosphorylated glucose
- glucose phosphorase concerts phosphorylated glucose to 2x triose phosphate
- triose phosphate is converted to pyruvate, phosphofructokinase aids this
( during this, 2x ATP is made and 2x reduced NAD is made)
