Q

Describe the process of glycolysis:

A
  • Glucose is phosphorylated twice using 2 ATP into glucose phosphate (6C)
  • Glucose phosphate converts into 2 x Triose Phosphate molecules (3C)
  • Triose phosphate is dehydrogenised and oxidised to produce 2 x Pyruvate (3C)
  • this substrate-level phosphorylation produces 4 ATP and 2 NAD and reduced to produce 2 NADH
