A

to remove gas away so conc gradient of each gas is maintainedconstantly between blood and lungs

Q

how is there gaseous exchange

A

a conc gradient for each gas between spaces in alveoli and blood so gaseous exchange is carried out by process of diffusion

Q

how does lactic acid lead to oxygen debt in muscles

A

if need more energy carry out anaerobic respiration and alctic acid is formed .will be oxidised to carbon dioxide and water in liver using up oxygen in process and producing energy.Accumulation of lactic acid creates oxygen debt.it is then removed and coverted to glucose and transported back

Q

functions of alveoli

A

cluster of airsacs
one cell thick epithelium for easy diffusion
large sa for exchange of gases
thin layer of moisture to allow gas absorb into lining of alveoli
