Resp Findings Flashcards
Bronchial breath sound causes
Bronchial(higher pitch, pause between insp/exp, long exp phase), or Vesicular(lower pitch, continuous, shorter expiration)
pneumonia, localised fibrosis/collapse, above pleural effusion, large lung cavity
Crepitations
Fine= late inspiratory--> usually interstitial process/ small airways Coarse= early inspiratory--> usually larger airway disease
Reduced breath sound causes
emphysema, large lung mass, collapse/fibrosis/pneumonia, effusion, pneumothorax
Inspiratory wheeze cause
Asthma, upper airway extrathoracic obstruction
Expiratory wheeze cause
asthma, COPD
Causes coarse crepitations
Coarse crackles are louder, more low pitched and longer lasting
pulmonary oedema from chronic heart disease, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia
Causes fine crepitations
pulmonary fibrosis, congestive heart failure
