Q

PHYSIO

Hb Modifications

Mech of Path (3 steps) + Types (2)?

A

↓O2 bound to Hb = ↓O2 Sat = ↓O2 Content of blood.

  • Methemoglobinemia
  • CO Poisoning (Carboxyhemoglobinemia)

Q

ANAT

R Main Bronchus

Anatomical Feature + Clinical Application?

Q

PHYSIO

Responses to Exercise (9: 4 RESP + 2 ABG + 3 Metab)?

A
  • ↑CO ->↑Pulm bl flow
  • ↑Ventilation rate ->↑O2 consumption + CO2 production
  • ↓Dead Space
  • V/Q ratio more evenly distributed in lung
  • Arterial pH:
    • Moderate exercise: NO change
    • Strenuous exercise:↓ (lactic acidosis)
  • PvO2↓+ PvCO2↑
    (excess CO2 produced by exercising muscle carried to lungs in venous blood)
  • ATP Production:
    - INITIALLY = regenerated from Creatine Phosphate
    - LATER = obtained by oxidation of muscle Glycogen
  • Glucose + F.A taken up and oxidized by muscle
  • Glycogenolysis + Gluconeogenesis as bl glucose↓(Liver)
