ANAT
Arteries vs Veins
- Types?
- O2 Conc (* 2 exceptions each *)?
- Direction of bl flow?
- Anatomy (3 factors)?
- Valves present?
- Vessel type?
A
Arteries: - Systemic + Pulmonary art - Carry OXYGENATED bl, except for: - Pulmonary art - Umbilical art - Bl AWAY from Heart - Thick elastic muscular layer (can handle high pressures), rigid walls, deeper in body. - NO valves - Resistance vessels
Veins:
- Systemic + Pulmonary veins, Superficial + Deep veins
- Carry DEOXYGENATED bl, except for:
- Pulmonary vein
- Umbilical vein
- Bl TO Heart
- Thin elastic muscular layer, collapsible walls, closer to skin.
- Semilunar valves (prevent bl flow in opposite direction)
- Capacitance vessels

ANAT
Coronary Dominance
Def’n / Determination of,
Origin of Post Desc Art (3 possibilities)?
A
Coronary Dominance is determined by the coronary art that supplies blood to the POST Descending Art (aka post interventricular art).
ORIGIN of Post Descending Art (PDA):
- R Dominant (70% of pop): PDA arises from RCA
- L Dominant (10% of pop): PDA arises from L Circumflex art
- Codominant (20% of pop): PDA arises from both RCA + L Circumflex art
AV Nodal art also originates from dominant coronary art.
