Excludability
The idea that you can have the power to exclude someone from using the resource
Subtractability
If you use the resource, make it unavalible for someone else to use
Private good and 2 examples
Excludable and Subtractable:
Food: Subtract bc if you eat food. Its not longer available for someone else to eat Excludable bc food is mine and prevent you from having it
House.
Common Pool
Subtractable and nonexcludable
Fish in the ocean: subtractable bc you have ability to fish and remove fish from ocean. NE be cant keep others from fishing in ocean.
library: remove books others cant use but cant prevent others from using the library
Public Good
NE and Non subtractable
air that we breathe: cant stop others from breathing and not causing anyone else’s ability to breathe.
sunset: not subtracting good from anyone else and cant prevent others from watching it
Club Good
Excludable and non subtractable
Movie Theatre: need to pay to get in, making it Excludable. Once your in, cant prevent others from watching movie (NS)
Memberships (Costco, clubs) : Need to buy a membership. Cant prevent others from enjoying from also using membership
