E: Albrecht evaluated an 8-week programme designed to help pregnant teens to resist peer pressure to smoke, when social support was provided the teens were significantly less likely to smoke than that of the control group
E: this shows that social support can help young people resist social influence as part of an intervention in the real world
L: furthermore, this research has implications to areas of society, stopping pregnant teens from smoking using social support as well as other dangerous issues reduces the likelihood of health problems of the infant. this means healthcare providers will be able to focus their attention in implementing social support measures to prevent dangerous and unhealthy acts
