If this is correct the research reads out five digits and so on until the participants cannot recoall the order correctly

Q

How did miller come up with chunking?

A

He noted that things come in sevens example the musical scale and the days of the week. Miller thought that the span of STM is about seven items plus or -2 but he also noted that people can recall five words as easily as they could record five letters

We do this by Chungking repeat sets of digit or letters into units or chunks
