Any method that involves asking a participant about their feelings, attitudes, beliefs and so on

Why are self reports useful
A
Don’t have to make inferences as the information is directly from ps
Can ask about hypothetical scenarios without having to physically set them up and observe ps behaviour

What are issues with using self reports
A
Social desirability bias - changing response to fit with social expectations
Low introspective ability can lower validity
Ps could lie/withhold information
