Research Methods Flashcards
1
Q
What is a NULL hypothesis?
A
A hypothesis that predicts NO CORRELATION between the variables being investigated
2
Q
What does it mean to OPERATIONALISE a variable?
A
To make the variables MEASURABLE
3
Q
What is STANDARDISATION? (Control variables)
A
Everything is MADE the SAME e.g. Instructions
4
Q
What is COUNTERBALANCING? (Control variables)
A
Split the group in half and have them complete the tasks in different orders
5
Q
What is RANDOMISATION? (Control variables)
A
Using chance to control variables to avoid bias
6
Q
What is informed consent?
A
The ppt is informed about what will happen and give consent to be part of the study
7
Q
What is a RESEARCH hypothesis?
A
Predicts a CORRELATION/RELATIONSHIP between the variables
