Q

How does Sampling method works in correlation study?

A

The researcher will need to decide what the target population is that they want to be able to make generalisation about and settle on a way of obtaining a sample of either participant or data that will be representative of this

Q

Ethical consideration on correlation study

A

If collecting primary data. The researcher will clearly need to obtain consent from participant avoiding this evening. Give them a chance to withdraw the data exacta.

If using secondary data, then it might be that this is already in the public domain. However it’s a researcher. We still need to ensure that the people who is data is being analysed on not identifiable in anyway.

Q

Definition of three types of correlation

A

Positive correlation
One covariable increases the other covariable increases

Negative correlation
One covariable increases the other covariable decreased

No correlation
There is no definite trend, and that the two Covera, but do not appear to be related to each other

Q

Advantage of correlation study

A

They can tell us something new (if two things are related) , the direction and strength of the relationship
A useful for technique when either practical or ethical reason means that variable cannot be manipulated (r.g. Accident vs alchohol consumption)
A good starting point for a research , if relationship has been established, we can contact more research to investigate them further

Q

disadvantage of correlation study

A

The crucial limitation is that they do not tell us anything about cause and effect
The inferential statistic will not always pick up on a relationship between two covariables
They do not require the collection of any qualitative data which limits our ability to know what seats behind any relationship that might be found
