Why is ethics relevant to research?
Ethical issues in research are integrated into every aspect of routine clinical practise
What constitutes evidence?

What happens if ethical standards are compromised in order to promote clinical research?
People will be hurt and patients will suffer
What is a reason for how clinical error happens?
Mainly due to self interest
Money, fame, career advancement etc
putting your interests ahead of patients- benifecence
What is the declaration of helsinki?
Ethical principles for medical research using human participants
What are the features of the human research for the declaration of helsinki?
Should be based on the results from laboratory and animal experimentation
Should be reviewed by independent ethics committees
Requires informed consent
Should be conducted by suitably qualified individuals risks should not exceed benefits
