Q

What is Case Conceptualization?

A

“the way that professional counselors make meaning out of the information they have gathered, how the client’s presenting concerns are embedded in some theoretical and practical context”

  • Organizes information to see major concerns, reasons for these, what’s maintaining the problem, resources, desired outcomes, and strategies.
  • Leads to diagnosis and treatment (including theoretical orientation)
  • Intersectionality needs to be considered (race, religions, SES, family, etc.) to relate and have effective treatment

What is a scientist-practitioner?

A

“Scientist-Practitioner Model teaches professional counselors to view all counseling as a formal research project. By taking a scientific approach to problem identification and using empirical evidence to design treatment interventions, monitor symptoms, and evaluate outcomes, practitioners ideally should become both consumers and producers of research.”
