A
  1. Mark and note position
  2. Transition and establish right-hand orbit
  3. Search/Monitor for rescue swimmer signal
    A) Radio (Pre-briefed FM frequency)
    B) Smoke
    C) Mirror
  4. When visual, resume hover postion

Lost Swimmer (Night)

A
  1. Mark and note position
  2. Flash Landing/Hover lights
  3. Search/Monitor for rescue swimmer signal
    A) Strobe light
    B) Radio (Pre-briefed FM frequency)
    C) Flare
  4. When visual:
    A) Cease flashing Landing/Hover lights
    B) Resume hover position
    -If these procedures fail to relocate the RS:
    1. Deploy the lighted raft at the marked position
    2. Deploy the DMB at the marked position
    3. Request assistance
    4. Initiate a sector search

Leaving Rescue Swimmer On Scene

A
  1. Mark and note postion
  2. Deploy lighted raft
  3. Deploy DMB
  4. If time/situation permits, contact rescue swimmer via pre-briefed radio frequency and advise of situation/intentions
  5. Notify the SAR mission coordinator

Emergency Recovery Of The Rescue Swimmer

  1. Rescue Basket - IF RIGGED AND EMPTY. The rescue basket is the primary device for recovery
  2. Bare Hoist Hook (DELIVER UNLOCKED) - If rescue basket is not readily available

Emergency Flyaway During Hoisting Operations

A
  • If swimmer or device is attached to hoist hook between the water and beneath cabin door:
    1. “SHEAR, SHEAR, SHEAR” (P, CP, FM)
    2. EMER REL button - PRESS (P, CP)
    3. HOIST SHEAR switch - SHEAR (FM)
  • If swimmer or rescue device is attached to the hoist hook between cabin door and hoist drum:
    1. Bring swimmer into cabin or maintain firm handhold
