How would you carry out a practical to investigate the effect of a factor on human reaction time?

Answer 1

INDEPENDENT VARIABLE - stimulant (eg caffeine) to increase neurotransmission
DEPENDENT VARIABLE - How far the ruler fell before being caught
CONTROL VARIABLE - person catching ruler, noise in room
-Rest forearm on edge of a table and hold first finger and thumb around ruler (with the 0 end of the ruler between finger and thumb)
-Partner will randomly drop ruler, then catch it as soon as you see it drop with finger and thumb
-Record the number above the thumb and repeat to calculate a mean
-Plot values in table
-Convert cm measurements to seconds using reaction time conversion table
