Q

What is the method for the practical?

A

Set up and wrap insulation round block.
Put thermometer in second hole and add water to increase thermal contact.
If power unknown check power supply and do P=Iv
Measure temp every 10 mins and plot graph of temp to work done and fine gradient of line.
Specific heat cap is gradient of line/mass.

Q

What is method to find resistance?

A

Set up circuit attach a length of wire along ruler and crocodile clips.
Attach second clip and record the current and voltage through wire.
Move croc clip 10cm back along wire and measure current and voltage.
Calculate resistance at each point using V=Ir
Plot length of wire on x axis and resistance on y axis.
