A
Because if you lost your reputation you would be kicked out of the important social circles and ruin your status.

Duality of Man
-everyone has two sides not everyone has only a good side.
1. One side is the side shown to public in order to be respected etc.
2. Other hidden darker side too which is not revealed. Could be hiding the desire of evil acts, or sinful desires like unnatural sexual wants.
