Tanner Stages

A

Stage I: preadolescent

Stage II: breast bud stage, elevation of breast and nipple, small mound, small amount downy hair

Stage III: further elevation of breast and areola (without separation of contours) menses occurs stage III or IV

Stage IV: projection of areola and nipple to form a secondary mound above level of breast

Stage V: mature stage; projection of nipple only
